Soumi gives India a good start

New Delhi: Soumi Mondal gave India a good start in the World Junior table tennis championships, claiming the first two matches, while her compatriot Neha Aggarwal returned with a win and a loss in the qualifying round at Madrid on Wednesday.

Soumi blanked Gara Hayet of Tunisia 3-0 in the first match and then beat Hirici Cristina of Romania 3-1 in the second match.

Neha won her first match against French Loeuillette Stephanie 3-0 but was handed out a 1-3 defeat by Baranova Olga of Russia. — PTI
