’United Carols 2008’ welcomes the holy arrival of Christ

HAIL THE LORD: The choir from Mount Zion College of Engineering and Technology performing at the ‘United Carols 2008’.
PUDUKOTTAI: A festive mood pervaded the town as a special function marking the ‘United Carols 2008’ to welcome the holy arrival of the King -- Lord Christ -- organised at the campus of Mount Zion Matriculation Higher Secondary School, was in progress here recently.
Representatives of about ten churches in and around Pudukottai participated in the carols.
It was a joyful occasion for men, women and children when the much awaited Santa appeared on the stage.
Centre of attraction
A student from Kenya, Peter Okawambo, was the centre of attraction when he rendered the carols on the birth of Lord Jesus.
Chairman of the Mount Zion Educational Institutions Jayabarathan Chelliah, in his address, spoke on the significance of singing the carols and lighting the candles on four Sundays preceding Christmas which aimed at bringing about hope, peace, joy and love.
India vice-president of Konica Minolta P. Joseph spoke on the importance of sacrifices of a true Christian.
Administrator of Mount Zion Educational Institutions Florence Jayabarathan honoured the pastors and their family members on the occasion.
