Naidu to leave for New Delhi today

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: Telugu Desam Party president N. Chandrababu Naidu is leaving for New Delhi on Wednesday to meet the Left parties and other leaders to take stock of the political situation after the results of the elections in the four northern States.

Mr. Naidu would meet the top leaders of the CPI (M) and the CPI and, if possible, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati and like-minded leaders of other parties working towards building a non-Congress and non-BJP alternative. In a brief interaction with reporters after launching a website, stopbabliproject.com, he said he would hold discussions with leaders on ways of strengthening the third alternative.

Reiterating that such a viable alternative had a strong chance of capturing power at Centre , he said people were vexed with the non-performance of the Congress and the communalism of the BJP.
