Bakrid celebrated with gaiety

Minor incident at Bhainsa does not deter the festive spirit

ADILABAD: Bakrid was celebrated with gaiety in Adilabad district on Tuesday as thousands turned up for prayers at Idgahs of respective towns and villages. Political leaders who had set up tents near Idgahs for greeting Muslims on the occasion.

Even a minor incident at Bhainsa town did not dampen the spirits of the celebrating community. Unknown miscreants had set afire a pan shop at Bhainsa in the wee hours of Tuesday.

A police patrol noticed the fire and quickly doused it. Karimnagar Range Deputy Inspector General of Police N. Chandramouli and Adilabad Superintendent of Police Anil Kumar were camping at Bhainsa. Investigation has been launched into the incident.

At Nirmal and Ichoda too, festivities and prayers went off peacefully under the strict vigil of police.

Special prayers

Staff Reporter from Sangareddy writes: On the occasion of Bakrid, thousands of Muslims across the district offered special prayers at Eidgah.

In the town, at 9.30 a.m. the community congregated at the place of worship en route Manjira dam and held prayers. Later, food was distributed to the poor.

Quran recitation

Nizamabad Staff Reporter adds: Muslims celebrated the Bakrid festival with much gaiety and religious fervour. Thousands of Muslims including children congregated old Idgah on Bodhan Road, new Idgah at Khilla, Idgah Madina at Dhamapuri Hills and Kachiyan Mosque at Gandhi Chowk since morning for prayers.

They offered special prayers at these places of worship between 7.30 am and 9 am.

Moulana Mufti Sayeed Akbar (at new Idgah), Hafeez Irfan Ahmed (old Idgah) and Hafeez Abdul Rasheed (Kachiyan mosque) in the district recited prayers from the holy Quran.
