UPA to seek political consensus to fight terror

New Delhi: As Parliament begins a brief sitting from Wednesday, the government is expected to seek a political consensus on initiatives to fight terrorism in the backdrop of the Mumbai attacks.

The 10-day sitting, the third part of the session that began on July 21 for securing the trust vote, comes after the Assembly election results that have come as a morale booster for the Congress that leads the United Progressive Alliance government.

The UPA could attempt to embarrass the BJP over its terror plank, which has failed to have much impact on the Assembly elections. — PTI
