Pension hiked

CHENNAI: Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi on Monday announced a pension hike for Kothiammal, daughter of freedom-fighter Vanchinathan’s associate who killed Ash, the British Collector of Tirunelveli.

A press release quoted the Chief Minister as stating that the government had decided to hike Kothiammal’s monthly pension from Rs. 500 to Rs. 2,000 as a special case.
