BCCI confident

Chennai: The verdict on England returning to India for the two-Test series was not known till late in the night. However, sources in the BCCI were extremely confident that ECB Chief Security Officer Reg Dickason had given a favourable report to the ECB on the resumption of the tour.

Mr. G.S. Walia, joint secretary, Punjab Cricket Association (PCA), told The Hindu that “the PCA was hundred per cent confident that the second Test would be held at Mohali.”

“We are already busy with our arrangements. Mr. Dickason is arriving here tomorrow. He will have a meeting with the PCA officials and the police here on Tuesday,” said Mr. Walia.

There were some speculations about Mohali being the venue for the second Test since Dickason was slated to arrive at the Punjab town only after submitting his report on the security situation to the ECB.

Meanwhile, India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni arrived in the city on Sunday. V.V.S. Laxman and Rahul Dravid reached here later in the night. — Special Correspondent
