CHENNAI: Chennai Customs and AGORC played well in patches to share a goal each in the Chennai Football Association senior division league at the SDAT-Nehru Stadium here on Sunday. The first half was somewhat exciting for the way both teams approached the task at hand. Five minutes into the match, AG’s drew first blood when a Justus Antony cross was astutely headed home by Rajmohan much to the delight of a decent holiday crowd. Customs, too, made its intention clear. Of the two, Customs, however, turned out to be more imaginative and well-prepared. Nigerian import Abiya poached dangerously inside the box while Bharathi Raja did all he could to help the Nigerian score. Customs’ effort didn’t go waste. Customs equalised through Bharathi Raja. Seeing goalkeeper Saravana Kumar approaching at break-neck speed, D. Kumar deftly nudged the ball to Raja who placed it into the vacant goalpost. Saravana injuredIn the melee, Saravana Kumar’s leg was fractured and he was taken off in a wheelchair to the near-by hospital. Dhanasekaran, who replaced him, did a neat job throughout a drab second session. — Principal Correspondent
