Shergill shines

NEW DELHI: Simran Shergill smashed five goals to power Himalayan Horse/Equisport to a 6-4 victory over Sona Polo in the final of the Reid and Taylor 108th Indian Open polo championship at the Jaipur Polo ground here on Sunday.

While Simran Shergill, who incidentally scored the first and last goals of the match, liberally helped the team dominate from the start to finish, Abhimanyu Pathak chipped in with one to complete the tally.

Ransher Singh scored all the four goals for Sona Polo, to keep the hopes of the team alive till the very end. His efforts had seen the two teams being on par at 3-3 by the end of the second chukker.
