BDL rallies to down SBI

HYDERABAD: Bharat Dynamics Ltd defeated State Bank of India 2-1 in the SAAP Budweiser Premier League football championship at Gymkhana Grounds here on Sunday.

It was bankmen who shot into lead in the fourth minute when Prasanjith Banerjee chipped the ball over the advancing goalkeeper Asif.

However, BDL fought back well to equalise through mid-fielder Sekhar in the 46th minute when he headed a cross from Amul into the goal.

Soon, BDL scored the match-winner when Faisal was on target with a fine solo effort.

In another match, Hyderabad Globe scored a solitary goal win over Hyderabad Sporting 1-0 with Md. Mahmood heading a perfect cross from Md. Farooq.

Earlier, two minutes silence was observed in memory of Abul Hassan, president of Hyderabad Sporting, who passed away.

Hassan was a former National player and also played for RTC in domestic league.

St. Antony HS wins

St. Antony High School (Secunderabad) won the Thuniki Rama Rao memorial one-day volleyball tournament for girls defeating St. Xavier School (Venkatapuram) 25-22, 25-20 in the final at Golnaka GHMC Ground here.

Arjuna Awardee Mulini Reddy gave away the prizes.

AP sub-junior athletics

Andhra Pradesh State sub-junior athletics championship for boys and girls (in the age groupsof 10, 12 and 14 years), to be held in Medak from December 20, have been put off to February 7, 2009.

Entries close by January 30 and athletes from the SAI STC, SAAP Academies, Sports Schools, Boys Sports Company, CBR Academy are not permitted to take part.

Entries for Delhi Marathon

Mawana Sugars Indian Open marathon will be held in Delhi on December 28.

Entries close by December 26 and AP Amateur Athletic Association informs that the entries should be sent with an entry fee of Rs. 10 in favour of Mawana Sugars Ltd, Delhi, along with the prescribed entry forms available with the APAA.

The marathon is open to all men and women above 18 years and the half-marathon for veterans and senior citizens (men and women above 45 years of age).
