VIJAYAWADA: Md. Baba of BSSB College (Tadikonda) and K. Roja of KVRKVR & MKR College (Kazipalem) emerged champions with 26 points each in the Acharya Nagarjuna University inter-collegiate athletics championship that concluded at the ANU campus on Sunday. Tenali’s ASN College and Kazipalem’s KVRKVR & MKR College clinched the team championships with 69 and 61 points respectively. In the football tournament, Vijayawada’s Andhra Loyola College, Machilipatnam’s Noble College and Government Degree College, Ulavapadu, bagged the first three places. In the final league matches, ALC blanked Government Degree College, Ulavapadu 4-0 while Noble College outplayed Koneru Lakshmaiah College of Engineering 4-0. Ranga Reddy, Nellore win titlesRanga Reddy boys and Nellore girls won the AP School Games Federation u-19 basketball championship that concluded at St. John’s High School (Gannavaram) on Sunday. In the final, Ranga Reddy defeated East Godavari 47-19 in the boys’ section, while Nellore beat Hyderabad 36-10 to take the girls’ title. The results: Final: Boys: RR bt EG 47-19. Semifinals: EG bt Krishna 42-22, RR bt Hyderabad 53-35. Girls: Nellore bt Hyderabad 36-10. Semifinals: Nellore bt RR 46-37, Hyderabad bt EG 25-8. Raju to participateGudivada’s 17-year-old Siva Naga Raju will represent the Indian badminton team in the second Asian Paralympics Cup – 2008 to be held in Bangalore from December 9 to 15. Raju will take part in both singles and doubles events in STL-3 category. Senior women’s cricketHyderabad Cricket Association will host all-India senior women’s cricket championship Super League Group ‘C’ matches in Hyderabad from December 8 to 17, according to D. S. Chalapathi, joint-secretary of HCA. Besides the host, Punjab, Mumbai, Railways and Jharkhand will take part in this leg. The winner of this group and that of the Group B whose matches to be held in Anantapur simultaneously will play in the final here at Rajiv Gandhi Stadium (Uppal) on December 17.
