Bengal posts win

Guwahati: Bengal defeated Assam by nine wickets with one-and-a-half-days to spare to bag five points in the Plate division Group ‘B’ Ranji Trophy cricket match on Sunday.

With its third back-to-back win, Bengal now leads the group, while Assam is out of the tournament.

Resuming at 114 for five, Assam folded up for 139 and Bengal needed just 6.4 overs to score the required 19 runs, losing opener Anustup Majumder.

The scores: Assam 86 & 139 (P.K. Das 41, Ashok Dinda five for 28) lost to Bengal 207 (Manoj Tiwari 101, Anand Katti seven for 93) & 19 for one. — PTI
