Inter-State gang behind petrol bunk robbery

Staff Reporter

The offenders were speaking chaste Hindi indicating that they were from North India

HYDERABAD: Police suspect the robbers who took away Rs. 90,000 from a petrol bunk near Medchal on Friday after firing at two workers belonged to an inter-State gang.

“They spoke in chaste Hindi with North Indian accent,” the bunk workers told the police. All the four robbers were fair, of average height and were in their early 20s.

Though the offenders, wielding firearms and toy guns, struck at petrol bunks on city outskirts several times, not all cases were detected.

Not much information

Except two gangs arrested by the police of Medchal and Suryapet in Nalgonda district, investigators don’t have much information about offenders targeting petrol bunks. Even these two gangs hailed from Andhra Pradesh.

Investigators said the possible complicity of these two gangs in Friday robbery was ruled out as description given by victims suggested that the offenders hailed from North India.

Bank loot

Police are investigating if the same gang is responsible for the recent attempt to loot a bank near an industrial area in Medchal. Two mask-wearing offenders broke into the bank building and tried in vain to open the strong room. The surveillance cameras recorded their visuals but the images were not clear as it was dark.

The intruders broke the surveillance camera monitor as soon as they sneaked inside indicating that they were aware of it. But their visuals got recorded in the CPU connected to the cameras.
