Memorandum on Babli submitted in 2007: Ponnala

TRS flayed for stalling reply on Babli in Assembly

HYDERABAD: Major Irrigation Minister Ponnala Lakshmaiah has ruled out the possibility of government taking an all-party delegation again to New Delhi to seek Central intervention in Babli .

At a press conference here on Friday , he said Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy had already led one such delegation to Delhi on March 31, 2007, and submitted a memorandum to the Prime Minister which was signed by all Opposition leaders, including N. Chandrababu Naidu.

The Minister said, it was unfortunate that the TRS members stalled his reply in the House on Babli, a project which turned out to be a danger for Telangana. Referring to the suggestion made by the Opposition that the Congress, as a party in power at the Centre, Maharashtra and A.P. could easily resolve the Babli issue, the Minister said, “before the Congress can do anything in this regard, let the Opposition parties reveal the stand taken by their State units.”
