Parties based on caste have no future: Naidu

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: TDP president, N. Chandrababu Naidu on Friday said political parties founded on caste basis would not have a future going by the past trend in the State.

In a brief chat with press persons, Mr. Naidu was responding to a question on the perception among certain sections of people that Praja Rajyam represented a particular caste. He said fortunately in the State, only those political parties that commanded pan Andhra Pradesh appeal cutting across the castes were successful. To a question, he conceded that the next Assembly elections could see polarisation of castes as never before. On the proposed alliance between BJP and NTP, he dismissed it as of no consequence. He said the BJP had no support left in the State. As for the alliance with TRS and about his reported dinner meeting with TRS chief, K. Chandrasekhar Rao, he said the details would be revealed at appropriate time.
