BJP launches Vijaya Sankalpa Samavesha

MYSORE: The Bharatiya Janata Party launched its Vijaya Sankalpa Samavesha for the eight Assembly constituencies going in for the byelections at Maddur on Friday.

Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa, who inaugurated the samavesha, addressed the public and vowed to usher in transformation in the State within the next two to three years. He reiterated the BJP’s commitment to development. He expressed optimism that the party would win the elections and said it was essential for stability and effectiveness of governance.

Describing himself as a “son of a farmer”, Mr. Yeddyurappa traced his roots to Mandya district, and said he would try to make it a role model for others to emulate. He blamed the previous governments for failing to ensure comprehensive development of the district and sought votes for the party candidate D.C. Thammanna.

The Chief Minister listed out a few problems plaguing the State, such as the power crisis. He said the Government had inherited it and it would be resolved after the byelections as there was an agreement with the Chhattisgarh Government to procure power from that State.

Mr. Yeddyurappa said efforts would be made to revive the Mysugar factory at Mandya.
