RKS emerges champion

Coimbatore: RKS Kalvi Nilayam defeated Jayendra Saraswathi MHSS by 12 runs and emerged champion in the CDCA under-13 inter-school cricket tournament for the Rotary Club of Coimbatore Metropolis Trophy at the TNAU grounds here on Thursday.

Karthikeyan (66) and Arvind (52) helped RKS post 186 for eight in 40 overs. Jayendra, despite a defiant unbeaten century by skipper, Godwin Rubesh, fell short by 12 runs.

The scores: Final: RKS Kalvi Nilayam 186 for eight in 40 overs (Karthikeyan 66, Aravind 52, Godwin Rubesh three for 24) bt Jayendra Saraswathi MHSS 174 for nine in 40 overs (Godwin Rubesh 100 n.o.).

RYCA cricket

The Rotary Club of Coimbatore in association with the Deaf Leaders will conduct the RYCA cricket for the disabled and the second Coimbatore District Cricket Trophy for the hearing impaired at the State Forest Service College grounds on December 7.

Postponed

The NDFA-Riverside Public School third division football league, scheduled at the HADP Stadium (Udhagamandalam) has been postponed to December 6.

Chennai posts win

Chennai scored a 25-18, 16-25, 25-18 win over Tirunelveli in a Group ‘D’ match for boys in the State volleyball championship in Tiruchengode on Thursday.

The results: Boys: Group ‘A’: Coimbatore bt Sivagangai 25-11, 25-14, Vellore bt Thiruvallur 25-19, 28-26. Group ‘B’: Kancheepuram bt Karur 25-5, 25-9. Group ‘C’: Erode bt Thiruvarur 25-21, 25-23. Group ‘D’: Madurai bt Cuddalore 25-17, 25-21, Chennai bt Tirunelveli 25-18.
