Security at RGIA intensified

Quick Response Team of Cyberabad police kept ready

Over 400 surveillance cameras installed


HYDERABAD: With intelligence agencies receiving inputs suggesting September 11 like attacks using the hijacked planes in India, security has been beefed-up at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) in Shamshabad.

A hijack warning was issued by the authorities for Delhi, Bangalore and Chennai airports after an email which mentioned the possibility of such strike.

All vehicles approaching the airport will be checked thoroughly on the main road connecting the National Highway-7 before allowing into the airport entrance. Passengers, visitors and their baggage will be frisked.

Constant vigil

More than 400 surveillance cameras were installed to maintain constant vigil on vehicles approaching the airport and cargo office. Additional armed policemen were posted at the terminal, cargo office and VIP parking place.

Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) in coordination with the Cyberabad police is overseeing security arrangements.

A Quick Response Team of Cyberabad police was kept ready and additional barricades were erected on the main road connecting the airport.

A bomb disposal squad was formed for round-the-clock check of the airport vicinity.
