Tiruchi: The Tamil Nadu Horticultural Crop Producers Association has appealed to the State government to sanction Rs.10,000 as compensation for every acre of banana damaged due to the recent rain. Extensive damageIn a statement issued here, A.Nagarajan, president, of the association said banana trees have suffered extensive damage in Manachanallur, Lalgudi, Musiri, Srirangam, Thottiyam and Tiruverambur taluks. A complete assessment of the damage should be made and farmers should be disbursed compensation. Similarly, farmers should be compensated for the crop damages sustained in rainfed areas.
