Coimbatore: The district administration and district engineer of the Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board have announced that orders have been served on 40 dyeing units for closure and disconnection of power supply connection on the charges of polluting the Noyyal Rajavaikkal and the ground water table in the area. District Collector V. Palanikumar and TNPCB Engineer in a release said that the 40 dyeing units in Telungupalayam area had not installed reverse osmosis treatment plants. Effluents that polluted the water bodies in the area had more than 2100 mg/litre of salt (prescribed by the TNPCB).
