Bomb threat

A bomb threat written with a chalk piece on a tray at the arrival hall of the Coimbatore Airport late on Wednesday night kept the security personnel on their toes. A blue colour tray used for scanning the luggage and belongings of passengers was found at the arrival hall of the airport soon after the arrival of a flight from Singapore.

The tray had a statement written in chalk piece threatening that a bomb would go off at 6 p.m. and ended saying “by Nadigar Sangham.”

A review of the airport security arrangements led by the Commissioner of Police, K.C. Mahali along with the Airport Authority of India officials, CISF Deputy Commandant, Arun Singh, was held on Thursday afternoon.

Based on a complaint

from the CISF, the Peelamedu police have registered a case under section 505 (1) (b) of the Indian Penal Code for an act intending to cause fear or alarm among the public against an unknown accused. The surveillance camera recordings are being perused to identify the person who might have written it or kept the

tray there.
