Fun filled Children’s Day celebrations

With a difference: Winners of the humour painting competition in Tiruchi.

TIRUCHI: The Tiruchi Humour Club celebrated Children’s Day by conducting jokes telling and cartoon drawing competitions for school students recently.

Over 400 boys and girls of classes from LKG to Plus Two drawn from 36 schools in Tiruchi and the neighbouring districts participated in different categories in both the events held at the Arokiyamatha Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Karumandapam.

While the tiny tots category comprised students of classes LKG to III; students of classes IV to VII were placed in the ‘junior’ category and students of classes VIII to Plus Two formed the ‘senior’ category.

The Director of Jenneys Academy, Ponilango, Poet Meyyathur Velmurugan, Santhanakrishnan, a teacher and Arul Mozhiyan, an agricultural scientist, were the judges for the jokes telling competition.

The judge for the cartoon drawing competition was Ravi, a drawing master.

The Rajya Sabha Member, N. Siva was the chief guest at the valediction held recently. The president of the Tiruchi Humour Club, Navilu M. Subramanian presided over the function, when its secretary, G. Sivagurunathan, the convener of the Vetri Tamizhar Peravai, P. V. Baskar, its deputy General Secretary, R. Sezhiyan and others offered felicitations.

Jokes telling competition, Tinytots: 1.G. Harini (R. S. K. Matriculation School); 2. Rakshana Ezhilarasi (Sri Akilandeswari Vidyalaya); 3. S. Kishwar Fathima (Om Maruthi Matriculation School).

Juniors: 1. Rishikesh Aditya (Sri Akilandeswari Vidyalaya); 2. G. Abinaya (Seva Sangam Girls HSS); 3. S. Basheer Anwar (Samad HSS).

Seniors: 1. M. Santhosh (SBIOA Matriculation HSS); 2. M. Sundararajan (Arokiyamatha Matriculation HSS); 3. P. Keerthiga (Lords Park Matriculation School, Karur).

Cartoon drawing competition,Tinytots: 1. M. Dayanidhi (Sri Akilandeswari Vidyalaya); 2. M. Krithikraj (Sri Sivananda Balalaya); S. Natesh Aravind (RSK Primary School).

Juniors: 1.K. Sowmya Priyadarshini (Sri Akilandeswari Vidyalaya); 2. A. Prasanth (Chinmaya Vidyalaya) and Ra. Guhan (Sri Akilandeswari Vidyalaya); 3. J. Sibikalyan (SBIOA Matriculation HSS).

Seniors: 1.S. Mohan (Sacred Heart HSS, Ponmalaipatti); 2. S. Vignesh (Srirangam Boys HSS); 3. M. Vinitha (Sri Akilandeswari Vidyalaya).
