Railways starts favourite

NAWABGANJ (U.P.): Olympic bronze medallist Sushil Kumar is expected to have it easy, but fellow Olympian Rajiv Tomar is likely have a tough time when the 53rd National wrestling championship starts at the Nandini Nagar Degree College Sports Complex here on Friday.

Sushil is sure to be the crowd puller in this small town, near Ayodhya. However, he is unlikely to be tested on his way to an expected gold.

Tomar will have to strike form to live up to his reputation. Tomar had suffered an unexpected defeat in the recent inter-Railway meet at Agra.

Railways’ men are expected to reign supreme again in the race for the team championship.

In the women’s event, well-known grapplers like Geetika Jakhar, Alka Tomar, Suman Kundu and Priyanka will be the ones to watch out for. — Sports Reporter
