Reimbursement of fee to be streamlined
Special Correspondent
HYDERABAD: The State government on Thursday assured that steps were being taken for proper disbursement of scholarships and fee reimbursement to SC, ST, BC, and Minority students
Replying to short discussion in the Council on disbursement of scholarships, Ministers -- Md. Ali Shabbir, D. Redya Naik and P. Subhash Chandra Bose -- said all necessary steps were being taken to provide education for SC/ST and minority students by extending them scholarships and reimbursing fee even in professional colleges.
Mr. Bose said the government was considering a proposal to refund SSC examination fee to poor students after the annual income limit was increased from Rs. 12,000 to Rs. 75,000 in urban areas and Rs. 60,000 in rural areas. Mr. Shabbir Ali said as against Rs. 3.8 crore given towards scholarships to minorities by the previous TDP government, the Congress government increased the budget to Rs. 90 crore.
Fee reimbursement to minority students in professional colleges was extended to benefit over 18,000 minority students.
