LONDON: England’s cricketers will fly to Abu Dhabi on Thursday before embarking on their Test tour of India, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) announced on Wednesday. “After spending the last 72 hours consulting security advisers and Government agencies at the highest level, the England and Wales Cricket Board has determined that England will leave for Abu Dhabi on Thursday to resume their two Test tour of India,” said a ECB statement. The England cricket team is to resume its tour of India for the Test series subject to security recommendations being implemented. The team will fly to India early next week from Abu Dhabi. England is set to play two Tests in Chennai and Mohali with the same squad that left India, with the exception of Stuart Broad, who will remain behind for further treatment on a hamstring injury. Earlier, the ECB Chairman, Giles Clarke has insisted he would not let terrorists dictate cricket. “Under no circumstances will we allow our cricket to be dictated to by terrorists. India is an enormous country and there are large parts of it that have never seen terrorist activity. In 2005 the Aussies were sensible and we are doing the same here,” Clarke was quoted as saying by Press Association. West Indies to tourMeanwhile, West Indies will tour England next year to replace Sri Lanka, which decided not to send a full-strength side because of the demands of the Indian Premier League. The ECB confirmed on Wednesday that West Indies, which was long rumoured to be lined up as a replacement, will play two Tests and three ODIs in May. — Agencies
