“No question of withdrawing support to UPA”

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi on Wednesday said that there was no question of withdrawing support to the Manmohan Singh government on the Sri Lankan issue.

“Will the issue be resolved and Tamils there live peacefully if the DMK withdraws support to the UPA government?” he asked.

Expressing satisfaction over the steps taken by the Central government on the issue, Mr. Karunanidhi said he would be happy if there was a ceasefire in Sri Lanka. Mr. Karunanidhi regretted that some opposition parties in the State were not cooperating with the State government on the Sri Lankan issue.

The Chief Minister, who is leading a team of all-party representatives, arrived here on Wednesday night.
