Setwin alleges harassment by RTA
Staff Reporter
HYDERABAD: Setwin Mini Buses Entrepreneurs Welfare Committee on Wednesday sought to question as to how Setwin, with its minuscule fleet of 100 buses, could become a threat to APSRTC which owns and operates thousands of services in the city.
Addressing a press conference here, the committee’s convenor M. Malla Reddy alleged harassment by officials from Road Transport Authority on instigation from National Mazdoor Union of RTC.
Booking cases
“RTA is booking cases on us in the name of special drives, ostensibly for overloading of passengers. Our buses have only 23 seats and it will be commercially unviable for us to run the show if we don’t take additional passengers. Are not the RTC buses overloaded?” he questioned. Mr. Reddy demanded for the raids to be immediately stopped and denied any knowledge about the Chief Minister’s proposal to introduce 1,500 more Setwin services in the city.
The Committee also demanded additional routes and separate stages for the Setwin buses as they were not being allowed into already existing bus bays.
