YSR reviews vegetable prices
HYDERABAD: Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy on Wednesday asked the Horticulture Department to submit the month-wise targets of various vegetables to be cultivated in the State.
He wanted details of the 54,000 hectares, where it is targeted to grow vegetables, compared to 34,000 hectares last year, a press release issued by the Chief Minister’s Office said. Dr. Reddy was told by officials that the prices of vegetables -- including onions and tomato -- in Hyderabad were ‘far reasonable and cheaper than other cities’. But, he said, this comparison was not the government’s lookout.
