HYDERABAD: The condition of police head constable G. Rama Raju, who was admitted to Apollo DRDO and later shifted to Apollo Hospitals Jubilee Hills following the firing incident at Santoshnagar on Wednesday, continues to be critical. A team of surgeons from the hospital operated on him on Wednesday evening and successfully removed the bullet, which had entered his abdomen from the left side of upper abdomen. The bullet pierced through his stomach, multiple blood vessels in the area, pancreas and liver causing extensive damage. Chief Executive of Apollo Hospitals Hyderabad Dr. K. Hari Prasad in a statement said the prognosis of Mr. Raju remains guarded. Doctors informed that on opening Mr. Raju’s wound, it was found that he was bleeding profusely from injuries to multiple organs. The bleeding in all the vital organs has been controlled and post surgery the abdomen was closed and the recovered bullet will be handed over to investigating agencies, Dr. Prasad said. Earlier, another police personnel Md. Jaffer, who was also injured , was admitted to Apollo DRDO. Mr. Jaffer, who had a fracture, was given a ‘cast’ and was discharged with appropriate medical advice. After the surgery was completed, Mr. Raju was shifted to Intensive Care Unit and is being closely monitored by a team of doctors. “His condition remains critical and all necessary medical support is being provided,” Dr. Hari Prasad said.
