The victim’s wife confessed to having beaten her husband with a club, with an intention to kill him

CHENNAI: A woman was arrested at West Mambalam on charges of murdering her husband on Wednesday.

Police said that Chandrasekhar (70), a retired employee, was reported to have died after he fell in the bathroom and suffered a head injury.

A case under Section 174 (unnatural death) was registered by the Ashok Nagar police.

During post-mortem, it came to light that the head injury was caused by a severe hit, probably with a blunt object. On further interrogation, the victim’s wife, Surya Prabha (61) confessed to having beaten her husband with a club, with an intention to kill him. She told police that Chandrasekhar was addicted to alcohol and ignored her requests to desist from the habit.

The accused was produced in a city court and remanded to judicial custody.
