Unified service rules for teachers soon

HYDERABAD: School Education Minister C. Damodar Rajanarsimha has said that the government is hopeful of getting Presidential clearance for the unified service rules for teachers by month-end.

The long pending issue was cleared by the Ministries of Law, HRD and Home and was to be forwarded to the President by the former Home Minister Shivraj Patil when he had to step down in the wake of Mumbai terror strikes.

Now the file has to be formally cleared by the new Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram before it could be submitted to the President for her consent. “We hope it would be through by December-end thus resolving the issue that had been pending for long,” he told reporters here on Wednesday.
