Experiences of a terror victim in Mumbai attack

BERHAMPUR: An Oriya youth of Ganjam district Susant Panda had also come face-to-face with the bullet spewing terrorists at Chhatrapati Sivaji Terminus (CST) in Mumbai on Nov. 26 .

This youth, who hails from Jakar village near Polasara in Ganjam district is now under treatment in the J.J. hospital in Mumbai. A bullet of the terrorists had hit him at the railway station. Luckily the bullet pierced his elbow. The doctors have taken out the bullet which had remained lodged in his bone. Although he is physically safe the gruesome shock he had received still shrouds his health. As per the physicians he may have to remain in hospital for another week.

Susant says he would never forget the nightmare of Nov. 26 . His father and sister live in Mumbai. He usually stays in Berhampur to look after his business of motor parts trading. Recently he had been to Mumbai to take part in the family celebrations related to the birth of a son to his sister. He had decided to return to Berhampur via Hyderabad where he had some work related to his business. He had his ticket booked in Hyderabad bound train.

His train was to start from platform number 14 of CST. At around 9.55 p.m. he heard shouts and commotion. He came face-to-face with the two youths who were firing indiscriminately. He ran to with his luggage to escape from the spot. But a bullet of the terrorist hit him on the elbow. In the pain and shock he fainted and fell to ground which may have saved him.

When he became conscious he located himself in the St Jones hospital. From there he was shifted to the J.J.hospital.
