MYSORE: The Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA), which is celebrating its centenary year, is embroiled in a controversy over “mindless” de-notification of land notified for formation of layouts to distribute sites to 1.60 lakh people. The Association of Informed and Concerned Citizens of Mysore (ACICM) has decided to gherao Minister Urban Development Suresh Kumar in the second week of December when he visits Mysore. The association will urge him to expedite the process of allotting sites and direct MUDA against de-notifying the land acquired. The association is also planning to launch a “No MUDA” agitation. Addressing presspersons here on Tuesday, convener of ACICM M. Lakshmana said MUDA, which promised to distribute sites within a timeframe, had not only failed in doing so, but also was de-notifying the land identified for forming sites. This had benefited land developers, he said. Meanwhile, MUDA Commissioner Jayanna said MUDA would identify land for formation of sites. On getting approval, it would notify the land. After inviting objections, it would issue the final notification. In the process, if the Government excised its “power” to de-notify the land, there was no reason to blame MUDA. One should be reasonable enough while making allegations, he said.
