CHENNAI: The Tamil Nadu Tennis Association, as part of its ‘Advantage Tamil Nadu programme’ has sent a team of seven young players for a four-week intensive training at the Nick Bollitieri Tennis Academy in the U.S. The team is scheduled to return on December 30. This is for the fourth successive year that such a team is being sent under this Tennis Excellence Programme (TATE). The team comprises Sai Avinash, S. Sidharth, R. Ramkumar, Mohd. Yunus, Rithvik Anand, Neeraj Elangovan and Mohit Mayur. T. Chandrasekhar is accompanying the team as manager-cum-coach. The Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu is taking care of the travel expenses of the players while the TNTA is funding the official’s travel. CFA league put offThe St. Joseph’s-CFA senior division and first division football league, which were scheduled to resume on Wednesday, have been put off by two days to enable the Nehru Stadium authorities get the turf ready after the recent rains. The CFA Secretary, E. Sugumaran, also announced changes in the kick-off time with the first division matchesat 2.30 p.m. and the senior division matches at 4.30 p.m. The second half of the senior division encounter will be played under floodlights. Athletics meetThe Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu will conduct the ‘Promotion of Sports and Games’ district-level athletics meet on December 9 at Nehru Stadium.
