Arrested on rape charge

A 16-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a youth at her residence here on Monday.

Police said the victim was alone on the first floor of her house in Perambur when the accused, G. Vijay Prabhu (25) of the same area, barged into the house and committed the offence. Based on a specific complaint, the Sembium police arrested the accused.

Vijay Prabhu was remanded to judicial custody.
