VIJAYAWADA: Krishna district Collector N. Sridhar has asked farmers of Jakkampudi not to use their lands for cultivation of any new crop after the completion of harvesting of the standing crop, as the district administration would commence works relating to construction of houses under Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) very soon. During his visit to the village on Tuesday, Mr. Sridhar instructed the officials to take up laying of internal roads for the laying of approach road, and before that finalise the layouts with due consultations among VGTM-UDA, VMC and Revenue Department. The Collector felt that it would be good to supply drinking water to the future dwellers of JNNURM houses by laying pipelines from nearby protected drinking water schemes and storing the water in elevated reservoirs, rather than use ground water. Sub-Collector Gaurav Uppal and others were present.
