Security tightened around Parliament

New Delhi: The aftershocks of Mumbai terror attacks are visible in the National Capital with authorities beefing up security, particularly in Parliament.

Newly dug bunkers have come up at the Vijay Chowk side of the edifice.

CRPF jawans with black headbands can be seen peeping out from these structures.

“Quick Reaction Teams (QRT’s) of paramilitary forces have been stationed at strategic points around Parliament,” a security official said.

A CRPF official added, “Two battalions of CRPF are already securing Parliament. A new Mahila Platoon has been sent there on Tuesday.”

Thirteen people were killed when five militants stormed the country’s seat of democracy on December 13, 2001.

Parliament will convene session from December 10.

The Delhi police said their personnel are also maintaining a constant vigil in the Capital, particularly in busy market areas and railway stations.
