BHUBANESWAR: Prominent poet and lyricist Padma Bhushan Gulzar would be conferred the coveted Akshaya Samman for 2008 during the 10th annual Akshaya Utsav scheduled to be hosted at Utkal Mandap open air auditorium here on December 6. The award, instituted last year by Akshaya Mohanty Foundation in memory of the late legendary singer-composer and writer, carries a cash of Rs. one lakh besides a citation. It is conferred on a person of national eminence in appreciation of one’s lifetime contribution to music or literature. The first Akshaya Samman was conferred on noted playback singer Padma Bhushan Manna De last year.
