SAVIOURS: A. Manoharan Irudayaraj, coordinator, Child Line, explaining the missions carried out by the organisation in Tiruchi. — TIRUCHI: The National Institute of Public Cooperation and Child Development, New Delhi, in association with Child Line India Foundation, Chennai, and Child Line Nodal Organisation, Department of Social Work, Bishop Heber College, Tiruchi, organised a one-day workshop for the Government Railway Police and Railway Protection Force personnel with a view to sensitising them to child-related issues and child rights here on Saturday. The ways to identify children in distress and those needing help; putting such children in a safe shelter before uniting them with their parents and the kind of risk runaway children would face were explained by various speakers. Godwin Prem Singh, Director, Child Line Nodal Organisation spoke about the psychological aspects of childhood during the day-long programme. A. Manoharan Irudayaraj, coordinator, Child Line, Tiruchi gave an account of its activities and the different missions to rescue children in distress. He informed about the number of children rescued and re-united with their parents.
