Six share second spot Rucha, Shalmali and Bharathi top girls’ section MANGALORE: Girish Koushik of Karnataka won a game and drew another to emerge joint leader with Debashish Das of Orissa on Tuesday in the ongoing BSNL Sub Junior chess championship at the Subrahmanya Hall here on Tuesday. Debasish Das defeated Ramnath Bhuvanesh in 64 moves. Six players — G. Akash and K. Priyadarshan both of Tamil Nadu, Pranav Shetty, Aditya Udeshi, Shiven Kosla and Rakesh Kulkarni all of Maharastra — are in joint second spot with 7 points each. In the girls section, Shalmali Gagare of Maharashtra and Shristi Shetty of Karnataka signed a peace treaty in 34 moves, while Shikha Shah of Gujarat drew with R. Bharathi of Tamil Nadu on the second board in 30 moves. Rucha Pujari of Maharastra scored over Aparachita Gochhikar of Orissa. With this win Rucha joins Shalmali and Bharathi in the top with 7 points each. Shikha, C.H. Savetha of Tamil Nadu and Shristi are in the joint second spot.
