Religious fervour: ‘Gopooja’ being performed by Krishna Chaitanya Sangham for world peace at Korukonda near Rajahmundry on Tuesday — Rajahmundry: Rotary Club River City and River Bay Resorts organised a candlelight rally to pay homage to heroes, who lost their lives in terrorist attacks, at Government Arts College grounds on Tuesday. A large number of students, sports men and women from participated in the candlelight rally. On behalf of the club Lft. JVVS Murthy, senior advocate Madduri Siva Subba Rao, Dasi Venkat Rao, IRK Rao, assistant. Governor G. Suresh Kumar, Gathy Kishore, Gadireddi Kumar, president, Laxman Prasad and Dorababu and Nagendra Kishore participated. At ONGCONGC, Rajahmundry on Tuesday paid homage to police personnel, NSG men and other innocents who lost their lives in terrorist attack in Mumbai. Officers and employees of ONGC led by A.A. Khan, Executive Director of Asset Manager, lighted candles in front of the Godavari Bhawan. Mr. Khan read out the pledge in which, all vowed to fight against terror and keep high the sovereignty and secularism of the country. They also took the pledge to stand against all forces who try to divide the country on the basis of caste, creed and religion. A two-minute silence was observed by all the employees of ONGC in memory of those who died in the attacks. At MCRMunicipal Corporation of Rajahmundry paid homage to those people who died in Mumbai attacks. Mayor Adireddy Veeraraghavamma, Commissioner V. Rajendraprasad, Deputy Mayor B. Satyanaryana Prasad, Polu Vijayalakshmi, Rachapalli Prasad and others paid homage and released pigeons. Municipal employees paid floaral tributes to jawans, police officers and people who died in terrorists’ attack.
