Plan to cultivate green fodder at Vaazhaithottam

Special Correspondent

Crop will be ready for harvest in February or March

Udhagamandalam: A programme to cultivate green fodder is now being implemented by the Nilgiris District Cooperative Milk Producers Union (NDCMPU) at Vaazhaithottam near here.

Stating this in a press note issued here on Monday, the General Manager, NDCMPU M.Gnanaguru said that a piece of land extending over about 12 acres belonging to the union near its chilling plant was being used for the programme.

Pointing out that usually between February and June every year it was very difficult to get green fodder here, he said that fodder in different forms was being grown on the farm.

Stating that they will be ready for harvest by February or March, he expressed the hope that the programme would be of considerable help to dairy farmers especially during the summer season in the hill station.
