BSNL employees seek interim relief

Enlisting demands: BSNL employees staging a demonstration at Vannarpet in Palayamkottai on Tuesday.

TIRUNELVELI: Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited employees staged a demonstration here on Tuesday pressing various demands. The protestors said the move to divest the shares of BSNL should be given up immediately and the public sector communication giant be given the 3G spectrum without any charge.

While an interim relief of Rs. 5,000 should be given to all employees, a minimum bonus of Rs. 10,000 should also be given. Time-bound promotions should be given to all workers as is being given to the officials of BSNL.

Office-bearers of various BSNL employees’ unions including P. Balasubramanian, M. Nainar, M. Arumairaj, K. Saalan, K. Karuppasamy and others participated in the agitation.
