Updated voter list to be ready soon

Special Correspondent

TIRUPATI: The revised, updated and corrected voters list with the photographs of the individual voters would be ready by January 10 and displayed and read out at the meetings to be held at the wards and the villages.

This was indicated here on Tuesday by the Chittoor Collector M. Ravichandra after a review meeting with the Mandal Special Officers, Tahsildars, Polling Station Supervisors, Booth-level officers of the Tirupati and the Chandragiri constituencies held here today.

He said that the revised draft voters list containing the names and photographs of the individual voters enrolled during the special drive carried out in the district between October, 25 and November 25 through a door-to-door campaign would be kept on display from tomorrow at the concerned offices.

Claims

Claims and objections from the voters would be entertained till December 17 and necessary corrections vis-a-vis the omissions and additions would be completed by December, 31 so as to be ready for display on Jan, 10.

The Collector asked the officials not to accept applications for enrolment if submitted in a bunch by a single individual.

He said they can however accept applications in a bunch if a member of the same family submitted them on behalf of all members.

Photographs

Joint Collector, Suresh Kumar said that since mere presence of name in the voters list without the photograph of the voter would not be entertained for voting, the voters have to invariably get their photos affixed against their names in the voters list. He asked the officers concerned to visit such households and take the photographs without anymore delay.

He said all those who are 18 year old as on 1st January, 2009 are eligible for enrolment and voting.
