Staff Reporter

Lack of proper maintenance of land records leading to litigations, says Collector

Tahsildars asked to weed out bogus passbooks and title deeds by the month-end

Action against officials concerned if bogus passbooks and title deeds found later

ANANTAPUR: Lack of proper maintenance of land records by the revenue officials at village and mandal level was forcing people enter into litigations, Collector V. Anil Kumar said here on Tuesday. Most of the people coming to Grievances Day were representing their land related problems by spending money and time due to poor maintenance of land records, he felt.

At a meeting with the Tahsildars of 20 mandals in Anantapur Revenue Division here he directed the former to ensure proper maintenance of 1-A, 1-B and ‘Adangal’ registers by the village revenue officers.

The Tahsildars were also told to update the land records by effecting necessary changes every three months by getting the registration details from sub-registrars’ offices.

Vehicle facility

The State government had provided cell phone and vehicle (four-wheeler) facility to Tahsildars so that they could offer better and faster service to people.

But, several Tahsildars were not availing the vehicle facility and instead they were using only two-wheelers.

If the Tahsildars failed to avail the vehicle facility by hiring vehicle at their level, the district administration would call tenders for hiring vehicles to all mandals together and allot vehicles. The Collector also instructed the Tahsildars to be at their headquarters and failing on which stern action would be taken.

The Collector also cautioned the Tahsildars against bogus pattadar passbooks and title deeds and directed them to weed out the illegal ones by the month-end. Criminal cases would be registered against the officers and other staff concerned on finding the bogus passbooks and title deeds later, he warned.

The Tehsildars were also told to ensure collection of Rs. 11.5 crore water cess and Rs. 5.42 lakh ‘nalah’ cess. District Revenue Officer M. Sudarshan Reddy,

Anantapur RDO K. Gangadhar Reddy, District Supplies Officer Harikrishna and others participated.
