Staff Reporter

NIZAMABAD: A feast arranged by senior citizens turned into a tragedy and happiness evaporated within few minutes at the home-for-aged at Elalawada in Morthad mandal on Monday night.

The home accommodating over 50 senior citizens plunged into a sea of sorrow with the sudden death of two inmates, Elala Kishan and Pattepuram Ganga Reddy on consuming liquor at the feast. Another person Elala Chinna Reddy is reportedly convalescing.

According to G. Chandrasekhar, assistant Sub-Inspector, Morthad, the inmates of the home indulge in celebrations occasionally.

As usual, they had toddy first.

Later, they were tempted to taking whisky when one of their colleagues Musku Chinna Reddy offered.

Mystery shrouds the incident, the person who got the liquor bottle did not take it. Police did not reveal anything more as the investigation was on.
