Interference alleged

Staff Reporter

PUDUCHERRY: The Union Territory of Puducherry Revenue Officials’ Welfare Association, on Tuesday, lodged a complaint with the Collector, about the interference of a few elected representatives during undertaking of relief measures in rain-affected areas.

According to a release, the association said that the revenue officials were involved in relief measures including shifting of people from low-level areas to safe places, and distribution of food packets. The officials also coordinated with the Electricity Department and the Public Works Department during the relief works.

However, a few elected representatives had interfered during the relief measures and enumeration of damage caused by the rain.

The association demanded protection to the revenue officials and appropriate action against those who interfered in their duty.
