THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The 13th International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) to be held in the city from December 12 to 19 will showcase 186 films in 14 different categories. A press release issued by the IFFK Media Centre of Chalachitra Academy here on Tuesday said that two Malayalam films, K.P. Kumaran’s ‘Akashagopuram’ and M.G. Sasi’s ‘Adayalangal,’ were included in the competition section of the festival which will feature 14 films. As many as 56 films from 28 countries will be screened in the World Cinema category. Seven films that mark the milestones of 50 years of world cinema will be screened in a separate category. Other than this, five films have been included in the Focus on Russia section while 15 films will be featured in the Retrospective section. Films by Argentine film-maker Fernando Birri, Israeli director Ames Githai and African director Idris Oydugavo will be featured in the Retrospective section. A separate section on films by Russian film-makers Karen Shakhnazarov, Turkish film-maker Fatih Akin, French director Alan Rene and jury member Samira Makhmalbaf has also been included. In the Tribute section films of Egyptian director Yusuf Shahnin, American director Juld Das and Malayalam director Bharathan have been included.
