Vivekananda school students excel

KARIMNAGAR: Students of Vivekananda Vidyanikethan High School in Karimnagar bagged 12 prizes including six first prizes in all the sub-themes at the district science fair conducted at the Trinity High School in Peddapalli town recently.

The district science fair was conducted on the theme “Science and Technology for Global Sustainability”. Besides, there were 12 sub-themes such as conservation of natural resources, harnessing energy, agriculture and food security, disaster management, combating climatic changes etc.

The students of Vivekananda Vidyanikethan have won the prizes for the working models on various themes. A working model on Chandrayan by P. Pooja impressed the visitors and won the first prize for her explanation on Mission Chandrayan .

Some of the students showcased the process to generate power by using waste material such as banana peel, used tea powder, leaves etc and also prepared artificial coal to preserve natural resources of coal and gas etc.

School chairman S. Komuraiah and principal C. Janardhan Reddy said their students had set a record in the district by winning all the 12 prizes at the science fair . Among the 12 models, which won prizes, six of them have been selected to participate in the State Science Congress in December.

They said that their students had prepared working models on prevention of fire accidents in moving trains by inventing a fire alarm system.

A student Tejasri was selected to participate in national Science Congress which would be held in Nagaland for her model on wealth from waste.
