MBA student run over by tanker lorry

KOCHI: A tanker lorry fatally ran over a youth near the Vytilla overbridge here on Monday.

The police said that Dennis George, 23, son of George Thomas (officer, Bank of India, Ravipuram) of Thanangumpatikkal house at Elamkulam near Kadavanthra, was riding his motorbike when the accident occurred.

He died on the spot. Dennis was a final year MBA student of INC, Kochi.

The police said that Dennis was coming from Vytilla junction when the accident took place. According to the Traffic Police, he suddenly swerved his bike to the right and was run over by the lorry.

But eyewitnesses said a private bus had knocked him down, before being run over by the lorry.

Besides his father and mother Jolly, Dennis is survived by his sister Deepthy Dominic, who is away in the U.S. Relatives said the funeral will be held only after his parents, who are now in the U.S., return to Kochi.

The body has been kept at the mortuary at Ernakulam Medical Centre.
